Earlier this year, CUPW received a strike mandate from it's members.  While the strike vote was high (over 90%); the number of members that actually voted was very low.

The strike mandate expires on August 25.  I have heard that to maintain the mandate (and avoid the cost, time and risk of executing a new vote), all the Union has to do is provide 72-hour notice and undertake "some" action.  This could be a very brief disruption at one facility.

The Union's next move over the next 48-hours will be interesting.
